
Golem finds a lot of success at lower levels because it is a great card to beat newer / less experienced players with because generally they see it and panic, but the truth is there is practically no deck in the meta that does not have the tools to almost completely shut it down. In a head to head match up, any beat down player beating (for example) a bait player or a mortar / Xbox cycle player either got absolutely perfect card draw (and their opponent got the worst card draw possible) or their opponent was asleep. You always have counterpush capability and you are always in control of the flow of play. The advantage to a cycle deck is that you always have defensive and offensive options available to you.

It simple requires far more game knowledge and awareness to be successful with than any other deck. Yeah, to say cycle is easier than beat down is pretty absurd - cycle decks allow for recovery from multiple mistakes against more skilled players whereas, for example, misplacing a single card by a single tile in the opening seconds with a Golem deck will often cost you the game. Its an effective counter versus hog but thats not its main goal ((tesla, canno, tombstone are more meant for hog counters whilst inferno is more meant for heavyheavy tanks)) so at worst a -1 trade and no tower damage versus a card its not specifically meant for with the possibility (though the odds may be smaller than i think) of added value

Versus a pekka plus musky or say bowler plus bdrag inftower can deal with both threats as far as i can tell. And vs a solohog the inftower would often have half its hp left (depends on placement and response speed a bit though). I rarely ever use buildings in my decks so i may be biased, but when people make a push say hog plus knight in front, doesnt that stop both units (if needed add a freeze sprite in or distract knight).
